The unique property of this program is that it is completely scaffolded, from the very beginning to the very end, enabling the reader to learn sounds and read words in an ordered and confident manner, eliminating them getting unnecessarily stuck on sounds that have not yet been learned, i.e.:

 

  • Series 1, book 1 contains words only using the first set of sounds being introduced, plus some high-frequency words;

  • Series 1, book 2 then contains words using the new sounds from group 2 together with group 1, plus some more high-frequency words;

  • and so on throughout the entire program.

Each self-reader book is specific and relevant to the sound group being introduced, as well building on previous sound groups learned. As a result the reader can apply their new sounds knowledge immediately and confidently. The stories are full of fun and adventure and the characters are relatable for new readers.

The read-aloud story books act as a great way to introduce new characters. They are written in rhyme with repetitive phrases to encourage the audience to join in. They also encourage the new reader to want to learn new sounds so that they can read the next book to find out what the characters get up to!

​

This program has been tried and tested in four different countries, in schools as well as for home schooling and tuition, with great success, with young readers, stubborn readers, readers with learning difficulties and readers with English as a second or third language.
