Snappy Snippets provide practise in reading short texts, that contain the sounds learned in Series 1 of Sounds make Words make Stories. They are particularly good for readers who may be put off by high-frequency sight words, as they contain very few. This allows the reader to completely focus on sounding out. These Snappy Snippets should be used in conjunction with the self-reader books in Series 1, both at the entry and plus levels.

Sneak-a-Peeks provide new readers with practise in learning new sounds and blending them to make words. They also provide practise with spelling and decoding words that contain the sounds learned in Series 1 of Sounds make Words make Stories. They are particularly good for readers who may be put off by high-frequency sight words, as they only contain ‘the’. This allows the reader to completely focus on sounding out. These Sneak-a-Peeks should be used in conjunction with the self-reader books in Series 1, both at the entry and plus levels.

Sound-Saws provide new readers with practise in learning new sounds and blending them to make words, using the sounds learned in Series 1 of Sounds make Words make Stories. They are particularly good for readers who require more practise at blending, as they provide learners with the opportunity to tackle words on their own, without the worry of sentence structure or high-frequency sight words. This allows the reader to completely focus on sounding out and blending. These Sound-Saws should be used in conjunction with the self-reader books in Series 1, both at the entry and plus levels.
